Thereaction of phenolic aldehydes with the alkyl bromine in phase transfer catalyst gived p-alkoxyphenylaldehydes, 12 new compounds containing Schiff base types which contain 3 benzene rings, an alkoxyl group of different length were synthesized and characterized, and their mesogenic behaviors were studied through DSC and optical microscope.
