飞行器的速度发展到超过一定马赫数时因高速气流引起表面加热(气动加热)而遇到的障碍。以飞机为例,大多数超音速飞机可按巡航设计状态来估算气动加热,这时飞机蒙皮温度将达到某一平衡温度,其值与飞行高度、飞行速度、边界层状态以及蒙皮材料的辐射系数等有关。飞行马赫数越高,气动加热越严重。气动加热使机体温度升高而引起材料性能下降,因而使结构强度和刚度降低,并产生热应力和蠕变(见热强度分析),飞机的气动外形受到破坏,甚至引起灾难性的颤振(见气动弹性力学)。通常对马赫数超过 2.2的飞机必须采取防热措施,如采用耐热材料(钛合金和不锈钢等)、加装隔热设备、安装冷却系统等。(见彩图)
