【十种善法──火喻菩萨十种善法】
  ﹝出除盖障菩萨所问经﹞
  锻炼陶镕,必假其力,起灭变化,莫测其由;至若尽群有而归一空,破诸暗而昭万象,是皆火之德也。菩萨修行,以智慧火,了妄即真,锻凡成圣,破有着而归空,照昏迷而为朗,故以火喻焉。
  [一、烧烦恼薪],智慧如火,烦恼如薪。菩萨以智慧观察,灭除贪嗔痴等烦恼,净尽无余;譬如大火,能烧大地草木诸类,净尽无余也。
  [二、成熟佛法],菩萨修行,以智慧观察,成熟一切佛法,既已成熟,历劫不坏;譬如火性之热,能使依地所生一切种子及诸药等,悉能成熟也。(劫,梵语具云劫波,华言分别时节。)
  [三、干烦恼淤泥],若心着烦恼,性则昏昧而不明,犹身染淤泥,体则污秽而不洁,故名烦恼淤泥。菩萨修行,能以智慧观察,断除烦恼之垢,复本明净之性;譬如大火,能干一切湿物及淤泥也。
  [四、如大火聚],谓诸有情,为烦恼所苦,有若寒病所逼。菩萨以智慧力,种种开示,令其离苦得乐;如大火聚,人若向之,即得脱于寒逼之苦,而获温暖之乐也。
  [五、作光明照],菩萨修行,以智慧光明普照,令一切有情,于其昏暗未觉悟者,咸使觉悟;譬如有人于雪山顶,然大火聚,光明遍照,则无幽而不烛也。
  [六、能使惊怖],菩萨有大智威德,光明烜赫,能令天魔外道,悉生惊怖,离彼地方,退伏远去;譬如大火,所有一切恶兽,皆生惊怖,离己窟穴,四散驰去也。
  [七、能作安慰],谓诸有情,昏迷不觉,沉沦诸趣,受苦无穷。菩萨乃能说法,种种安慰,令离烦恼之稠林,趣菩提之正路;譬犹远道之人,夜行旷野,迷失方所,心生恐怖;若见火聚,即诣其所,心得安慰也。(梵语菩提,华言道。)
  [八、利与众共],菩萨随得利养受用资具,悉能与众共之,若贵若贱,等无有异;譬如大火光明,普照一切,无分彼此也。
  [九、人所供养],菩萨慈悲无量,化导亦广,一切世间天、人、阿修罗等,皆悉奉事供养,如诸佛想;譬如世间之火,诸婆罗门、刹帝利、民庶等,皆悉奉事也。(梵语婆罗门,华言净行。梵语刹帝利,华言田主。)
  [十、人不轻慢],谓菩萨于大乘中,虽初发心,能令世间天、人、阿修罗等,不敢轻慢,盖天、人等,知彼菩萨,不久当得无上佛果;譬如小火,人不敢轻,所谓星火虽微,亦能燎原,其可忽哉。
