The FT-IR, UV, 1H-NMR, 29Si-NMR spectra of PMS indicated that the resulting polymers showed Si—CH 2—Si segments formed by the Kumada rearrangement when THF/n-hexane was used as solvent, and the Kumada rearrangement can be avoided by the stabilization effect on the silyl radicals when toluene was used as solvent.
