植物形态：常绿乔木，高可达25米。树皮灰赤褐色，具不规则纵裂；枝条上升开展，小枝黄绿色，光滑无毛。叶互生，排成假二列状，线形，作镰形弯曲，长2~4厘米，宽3~4.5毫米，先端渐尖或急尖，叶缘扁平或微向外卷，表面浓绿色，背面灰绿色，中脉上面稍隆起。花单性，异株，腋生；雄花圆形，具鳞状苞片，雄蕊4~8枚，药3~8室；雄花单生，基部为相互对生的鳞片包围，胚珠1枚，直立。种子呈卵圆形，略扁，顶端具2棱线，假种皮大部分包围种子，仅露出顶端，成熟时鲜红色，多肉制质，味带甜，有粘性。 生态分布：产我国中部和南部各省；多生于山谷溪边杂木林中阴湿地，或向北山坡常绿阔叶林内。 药用部分：种子入药，秋冬季采收。 用途：治积食，驱蛔虫。
