| 阳泉市 位于中国山西省东部，太行山脉西侧，扼晋冀咽喉，石太铁路横穿全境。面积4452平方千米，市区662平方千米。1990年人口114.74万，市区55.45万。有回、满、汉、蒙古、朝鲜、维吾尔、苗、侗等20多个民族，其中以回、满、汉为主。1900年前是一片名为沙江口的荒滩 。1903年石太铁路通车后，采矿业随之兴起，1936年形成了3万余人的小镇，属平定县。1949年建市。1983年平定县、盂县归辖于阳泉市。矿藏主要有无烟煤、铝矾土、硫铁矿、石灰石、耐火粘土、铁矿石、大理石、石膏、石棉、石英、云母、长石、硅石、花岗石、蛭石、水晶等，还有镍、铬、锑、铜、钠、磷等稀有元素，尤以黑、白、黄矿著称（黑煤，白铝矾土，黄硫铁矿）。工业以煤炭开采、炼铁为主，兼有矿山机械、电力、化工、电子仪表、纺织等行业。农村的乡镇工业成为全市经济的支柱。石太复线贯穿该市，铁路支线四通八达，公路网遍布。名胜古迹有娘子关、关帝庙、烈女祠、百团大战纪念碑、清凉寺、摩岩石、蒲台阁、梁家寨温泉等。
