为唇形科植物鸡骨柴的根。
【植物形态】
鸡骨柴 一年生草本或亚灌木，高0.5～1.5米，全株有香气。根头处粗大。茎四方形，基部本质化，嫩枝被短柔毛。叶对生，椭圆形，长4～8厘米，宽1.5～3.2厘米，先端渐尖，基部楔形，叶缘上半部有锯齿，下半部全缘，两面多少被稀疏的柔毛，下面叶脉被长柔毛；柄极短。紧密的穗状花序顶生；花白色或淡黄绿色；花冠唇形。小坚果卵形，褐色，平滑。花期秋季。 生于山坡，或阳光充足的溪边、路旁、村边。分布云南、四川、贵州、广西、湖北等地。
【采集】
秋季采挖，洗净晒干。
【性味】
苦涩，温。
【功用主治】
温经通络，祛风除湿。治风湿性关节疼痛，用三至五钱，配药泡酒服。
