补充资料：澳大利亚的英制式fal
澳大利亚的英制式fal也像英国人一样命名为l1a1 slr，但采用本地产的角瓣木制作枪托和护木，外表类似于直线木纹的桦木。澳大利亚型l1a1由利特高公司生产，除了本国装备，也为新西兰生产。另外澳大利亚还生产和采用轻机枪型l2a1，其外形与加拿大的c2a1相似，都是由于枪管太重而取消护木，让腿架外包有长条形木块的两脚架折叠后充当护木的功能；而两者的不同点在于提把和照门的一些细节。另外加拿大和澳大利亚都为轻机枪型生产了30发容量的直形弹匣，但这两种轻机枪都可以使用英国l4a1布伦机枪的30发弧形弹匣。
许多澳军士兵在越战当中使用slr步枪，即使它又长又重不太适合丛林近战。但事实上，许多澳军士兵喜欢slr甚于美国的m16，因为他们深信7.62×51mm弹一枪就能干倒一个敌人——澳军士兵不太信赖5.56mm弹，尤其当目标距离较远时。澳大利亚的特别空勤团（sasr）在越南战场上使用自己改装的l1a1和l2a1，并为这些改装枪起了诨号叫“the bitch”（不懂英语的请自己翻翻字典吧）。“the bitch”有两种形式，一种是把全自动的l2a1的枪管“切短”15厘米左右；另一种是把半自动的l1a1改装成可以全自动射击，同样也截短了枪管。有些“the bitch”加上了m16的消焰器，还有些“the bitch”挂装上从美军那里拿到的xm148 40mm榴弹发射器。
澳大利亚的fal在1988年初停产，到1990年代开始澳军的l1a1被f88（澳大利亚生产的aug）代替，而l2a1则被f89（澳大利亚生产的fn minimi机枪）代替。
