1.即国际公制。旧名米突制。为法国于十八世纪末所首创。1875年，法﹑德﹑美﹑俄等十七国在巴黎签订米突公约，公认米制为国际通用的计量制度。我国国务院于1959年6月公布，确定米制为我国的基本计量单位。米制的几个主要单位规定如下:(1) 长度主单位为米，代号m，国际计量局内的铂铱合金制成的标准米尺在0°C时两端标线间的距离，约等于通过巴黎的子午线长度的四千万分之一。(2)质量主单位为千克(公斤)，代号kg，为保存在巴黎国际计量局内的铂铱合金制成的标准砝码的质量。(3)容量主单位为升，代号1，为一千克纯水在标准大气压下密度最大(4°C)时的体积。米制的主要优点是:单位的选取有可靠标准;各基本单位间有密切联系;采取十进位制，使用方便。
