In the presence of (K_2CO_3,) acetylmethyltriphenylarsonium bormide (1) reacted in (CH_2Cl_2) solution with (3-arylidene-2,4-pentadione) (2) and led to the products (2,4-diacetyl-3-aryl-5-methyl-trans-2,3-)dihydrofuran (4) and 2-(Z-4-oxo-2-penten-2-yl)-aryl-4-acetyl-5-methyl-trans-2,3-dihydrofuran (5).
