性质:分为铝黄石Ca2Al[SiAlO7]和镁黄长石Ca2Mg[Si2O7]两种。两者为连续类质同像。其化学组成为Ca2(Mg、Al)[(SiAl)SiO7]。四方晶系,呈板状或柱状晶形,有时为不规则的粒状。颜色为密黄色或褐色。硬度5~6。密度2.9~3.1g/cm3。平行{001}解理中等,{110}解理不完全。产于基性碱性火成岩中。在碱性岩与石灰岩的内外接触带中也有发现,在水泥及高炉矿渣中亦常发现。用于提取钙(或镁)或制作铝砖。
