物种特征:描述:中等体型(38厘米)、尾长的褐色鹃鸠。头及下体粉褐。雄鸟与斑尾鹃鸠区别为上体无黑色横纹,颈背无绿色,尾下覆羽黄褐色。雌鸟特具浅黄褐色的前额和头顶,下体具黑色细横纹。 虹膜-黄色;嘴-偏粉;脚-粉红。 叫声:繁殖季节作深沉的wua wu叫声。 分布范围:菲律宾、中国台湾。 分布状况:亚种phaea为台湾东南部兰屿岛的常见留鸟。 习性:同其他鹃鸠。 注:有著者把栗褐鹃鸠归入火鹃鸠 M. phasianella(参见郑作新,1994),或把火鹃鸠归入栗褐鹃鸠M. tenuirostris,在此作者从Inskipp et al.(1996)的意见,将其全部归为一超种amboinensis。
