      类卤素之一。化学式 (CN)2。无色有特殊臭味的毒气(见氰中毒);熔点-27.9℃,沸点-20.7℃,密度2.335 克/升;能溶于水、乙醇和乙醚。分子呈直线形:N呏C-C呏N:。性质与卤素单质相似,氰离子CN-与卤离子X-相似。
  
  氰在空气中燃烧发出紫红色火焰,生成二氧化碳和氮气。在弱碱溶液中与水逐渐生成草酸铵:
  (CN)2+4H2O─→(NH4)2C2O4在强碱溶液中发生歧化反应:
  (CN)2+2OH-─→H2O+CN-+NCO-在浓盐酸溶液中与水生成二聚羰氨:
  (CN)2+2H2O─→(CONH2)2经长久放置、紫外线照射或加热到300℃以上后,会聚合成深色固体。
  
  氰的制法很多,例如将Hg(CN)2热分解,微热干燥的Hg(CN)2和HgCl2混合物,将CuSO4在溶液中与KCN反应,用FeCl3在溶液中氧化Cu2(CN)2等法都能制得氰。
