性质:又称生物塘,稳定塘。系利用微生物和藻类对塘内贮存或缓慢流动的废水进行生物处理的构筑物。在氧化塘中,异氧微生物的代谢活动降解了废水中的有机污染物;藻类通过光合作用固定水中的二氧化碳,摄取氮、磷等营养物质和有机物,并提供了水中的溶解氧,通过两者的共同作用来完成废水的净化过程。它一般可分为好氧塘、兼性塘、厌氧塘和曝气塘等。可单级使用,也可多级串联使用。其处理效果与光照、温度、季节因素有关。氧化塘的优点是构造简单、易于管理、净化效果好、运行费用低;缺点是占地面积较大。
