秆直立或近直立,高可达18m,径5~8cm,竹壁厚3~5mm;节间长度一般50cm左右,最长可达1m以上;圆柱形,淡黄绿色,被白粉,尤以幼秆被粉较多;萚环隆起成一圈木栓质,有倒生的棕色刺毛;萚叶淡绿色,强度外反,卵状披针形,边缘内卷,腹面常密生短刺毛,近基部则密生一丛长柔毛,背面无毛;萚耳狭长圆形,缘被纤毛。每节具多数分枝,主枝和侧枝粗细相仿,丛生节上,略成半圆形,平伸无毛,具白色蜡粉;小枝具叶6~7枚,叶片线状披针形或长圆状披针形,长可达20cm,宽3.5cm,叶鞘光滑无毛。花序无叶,花枝极细长,有花4~5朵。
分布与习性:
产中国南部,分布两广、湖南。喜温暖、湿润气候及疏松、肥沃的沙壤土。
