      高炉炼铁中由加入炉的矿石中的脉石、焦炭的灰分同熔剂反应熔化形成的副产物,是含有多种氧化物的复杂硅酸盐,常含有少量硫化物、氟化物和碳化物等。它的成分和产量因高炉原料和燃料的成分而有所不同。冶炼每吨铁生成的渣量(即渣铁比),大致为300~600公斤。高炉渣的主要成分为:CaO35~40%,SiO232~42%,Al2O36~16%,MgO4~13%,还含有少量MnO、FeO和S等。高炉渣的比重:液态2.2~2.5,固态2.3~2.7;出炉熔渣温度1400~1550℃,每公斤含热量400~460千卡。
  
  熔融的高炉渣经缓冷、水淬和喷水等方法制成不同的建筑产品。
  
  
  高炉渣的利用在美、日、法、英、联邦德国等国,基本上达到排渣和利用平衡,苏联1975年高炉渣的利用率达78.5%。中国目前每年约排出高炉渣2100万吨,约70%制成水渣,用作水泥原料,少量用作道碴和膨珠。
