用途：该品是硝酸醌类炸药之一，称季戊炸药（奔斯乃特），爆炸力强，用于雷管的添装剂及导爆索的芯药。这类炸药还有甘油三硝酸酯（硝化甘油）和乙二醇二硝酸酯（硝化甘醇）等。戊四硝酯和甘油三硝酸酯还用作备管扩张剂，用于治疗心绞痛。
