性质:矿物在外界能量的激发下,能够发光的性质。加热、摩擦、加压、紫外线、阴极射线和其他短波射线照射等作用可使某些矿物产生发光现象,发光现象又可分为:(1)荧光,外界能量作用停止,立即不再发光;(2)磷光,外界能量停止后,仍可在较长时间内继续发光。矿物的发光性还常与混入物有关,尤其是稀土元素的混入会产生较大作用。金刚石、萤石、白钨矿是常见的发光矿物。发光性在矿物鉴定、找矿、选矿方面有一定意义。
