| 半金属 metalloid；semi-metals 性质介于金属和非金属之间的元素。半金属元素在元素周期表中处于金属向非金属过渡位置，通常包括硼、硅、砷、碲、硒、钋和砹，锗、锑也可归入半金属。若沿元素周期表ⅢA族的硼和铝之间到 ⅤA 族的碲和钋之间画一锯齿形斜线，则贴近这条斜线的元素（除铝外）都是半金属。半金属性脆，呈金属光泽，负电性在1.8～2.4之间，大于金属，小于非金属。半金属与非金属作用时常作为电子给予体，而与金属作用时常作为电子接受体。其氧化物与水作用生成弱酸性或弱碱性的溶液。半金属大多是半导体，具有导电性，电阻率介于金属（10-5欧姆·厘米以下）和非金属（1010欧姆·厘米以上）之间，导电性对温度的依从关系通常与金属相反，如果加热半金属，其电导率随温度的升高而上升。半金属大都具有多种不同物理、化学性质的同素异形体，广泛用作半导体材料。 |
