Based on the condition of 3~# coal seam in Hetangou Coal Mine of Baotou mining bureaus, the effecting principle of dip mining and rise mining on rib fall in full-mechanized caving face has been studied, and to determine the advancing direction of the working face correctly is important for the rib-fall prevention has been pointed out.
