2402树脂是由对叔丁基苯酚与甲醛在碱性催化剂存在下缩聚而制得。淡黄色至棕色不规则透明块状固体,在出料前加入草酸还原，可制得浅色的树脂。分子量为500-1000。羟甲基含量7％-10％，酸值6．0 mg KOH／g，游离酚＜2．0％。
2402树脂油溶性好，耐热、耐老化。溶于苯、甲苯、环己烷、醋酸乙酯、溶剂汽油等有机溶剂和植物油．不溶于乙醇和水。
用作氯丁胶粘剂的增粘树脂，丁基橡胶的硫化剂。贮存于阴凉、通风的库房内，远离火种、热源。
