螺杆转速影响注塑物料在螺杆中运送和塑化的热厉程和剪却效应﹐因此它是影响塑化能力、塑化质量和成型周期的重要参数。螺杆转速越高，塑化能力越强。塑料的熔融，大体是因螺杆旋转所产生的热量，因此螺杆转速太快，则有下列影响：1.塑料的热裂解；2.使螺杆或螺缸磨损加速。
主要优点为增加塑化能力，降低塑化时间。在螺杆直径较大或螺槽较深时，如果无法降低背压，可以增加螺杆 转速来提高塑化速度，减少塑化时间。
当计量后段螺杆转速应特别低，以降低惯性冲击，提高计量精度，多级控制有利于消除温差并提高塑化质量。
