Eriobotrya japonica;loquat

   蔷薇科(Rosaceae)枇杷属常绿小乔木。亚热带果树。因叶片状似琵琶,故名。原产中国长江上游。湖北西部山区还有野生种分布,浙江、福建、台湾为主要产区。

   枇杷叶片长椭圆形,长可达30厘米左右,叶缘有粗锯齿,背面密生灰白或黄白色茸毛。在枝条的先端着生复总状花序。花白色有芳香  。梨果球形至椭圆形  ,肉色浅黄至橙黄(见图)。品种有100个以上  ,根据肉色可分为红沙种和白沙种两大类。

   枇杷分布区年平均温度多在15℃以上。喜温暖湿润而阳光充足的气候和肥沃、排水良好的土壤。实生、嫁接或高空压条繁殖均可。主要病虫害有枇杷瘤蛾、枇杷天牛、干腐病等。
   枇杷果实除鲜食外也可制罐头。果实和叶片制成的枇杷膏和枇杷叶膏是润肺止咳药。花为良好的蜜源。树形整齐而叶常绿,晚秋开花,是中国古典园林中有名的观赏树种之一。
