The microstructure and hardness for the samples of laser consolidation treatment were analyzed,and both temper-softening of the overlapping zone during the laser treatment and tempering of the harden of zone during hot-rolling were investigated.

Tempering softening occurs in all overlapping zones for laser quenching,and the results of hardness testing indicate that the softening zone width of 45 steel is the broadest and the narrowest softening zone is observed for W18Cr4V steel.
