常见的大蟾蜍，不外乎有拳头那么大小，但始终南美的热带地区，却生活着全世界上最大的蟾蜍，这种蟾蜍叫做“海蟾”，最大的个体，长度达到25厘米，是蟾中之王。因此它又成为大蟾和巨蟾。
海产不仅体型巨大，胃口也特别的好。它长生活在成片的甘蔗林里，捕食各种害虫。因此，世界许多产糖区都把它请去与甘蔗的敌人作战，并取得了很好的成绩。
