Deep love for traditional Chinese culture inspires oriental fashion design

Chinese fashion designer Xiong Ying brought her Chinese high-end women's brand, Heaven Gaia, to Beijing's 2019/2020 A/W collection show, on March 31. Held during the China Fashion Week, the show is a top-rated platform for fashion design in China.
More than 50 sets of gorgeous costumes perfectly combining traditional Chinese cultural elements with current fashions were released, amazing more than 500 guests, including foreign celebrities, government and industry leaders, cultural celebrities, and representatives from business, education, fashion and media centers.
This is the fifth time that Heaven Gaia has released its clothing during the China Fashion Week. Highlighting gorgeous ready-to-wear clothes, this year Heaven Gaia integrates the rhythm of cultural symbols and Chinese folk art into its show to tell a unique story.

"The deepest love for traditional Chinese culture fuels my persistence in the design of Chinese-style clothing over the past years," said Xiong Ying, art director and co-founder of the Heaven Gaia brand.
"I take clothing as a way to showcase Chinese culture and believe fashion must be inseparable from the foundation of culture. The treasures of culture are an inspiration for me to make good designs that never ceases," she added.
The theme of the brand's 2019/2020 A/W collection combines a fearless, heroic spirit and a beautiful, poetic yearning for affection. With passion and persistence, Xiong and her team wanted to convey to the audience their strong respect for life and a responding answer to love.

The release consisted of four chapters, focusing on spring, summer, august and winter, respectively, as the theme of each chapter. The striking color scheme, Zen-style white composition, dynamic Chinese ink-and-wash, wonderful embroidering technique, exquisite textureand appropriate tailoring of the costumes reflected the artistic conception of four seasons in a lively manner.
The clothes express the elegant and restrained features of Chinese culture through refined fashion design. As a fashion expression of Chinese elements, they present the classic charm of Chinese culture.
Xiong strives to create beautiful clothes and use those designs to spread traditional Chinese culture to the world.

When she and Wang Tingying, her friend, co-founded Heaven Gaia in 2014, they described the concept of the brand as "showing gratitude to heaven and the earth." Xiong hopes to blend fashion design with ancient Chinese philosophy, which emphasizes the harmony between nature and humans beings.
"I am confident that Chinese designers can produce really good designs. Only if we truly understand our traditional culture, introduce it to the world and help people from other countries understand what Chinese culture is about, can we produce good designs that are widely accepted by people from around the world," Xiong expressed her vision elegantly.
