The image had been widely spread among international mainstream media before it was published in Science Magazine, reported China Central Television of China Media Group. Some foreign media even considered the photo as the best one that captures the stunning backside image of the Moon with Earth. The picture offers a rare perspective of the Earth and Moon together.

The image was captured at the beginning of February by a simple camera on board the China's Longjiang-2 satellite, which entered the Moon's orbit in June 2018. This is the first time that Longjiang-2 has captured the entire Moon and Earth in one shot.

The simple camera was built by four Chinese young engineers coming from Harbin Institute of Technology. All of them were born in the 1990s, with the oldest being 28 years old, while the youngest had just celebrated his 20th birthday.
