Historic brands highlight Spring Festival fair at Forbidden City
2019-01-29

Close to 150 of China's historic, time-honored brands, as well as other companies which inherited their intangible cultural heritage from their predecessors, are making their products available to visitors at the Palace Museum, Beijing's famed Forbidden City, as part of a Spring Festival fair.

Including local delicacies, liquors, health care products, silks, handicrafts and other items which can trace their heritage back at least a century, organizers of the fair say the goal is to remind people of the royal traditions involved in marking Spring Festival during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The 145 historical brands being promoted at the event have been selected from 10 Chinese provinces and municipalities. Most of the items on display were purchased exclusively by the Qing court to help the Emperor celebrate the Lunar New Year.
