A book named after the popular China Central Television's literary talkshow The Readers Ⅱ -- now in its third season -- was launched at a press conference at the National Museum of China recently.

Season one achieved success with a Douban rating of 8.5 out of 10 in China, and the second season ended with a Douban rating of 9.2.

The latest season of the show has 12 episodes, with each having a specific theme. And altogether 62 readers from all walks of life read articles under the different themes on the show.

In one of the expisodes dealing with "life", five readers who have had near-death experiences share their thoughts.

The book records the readers' stories and conversations with Dong Qing and the reading texts. AR technology is also used so that people can watch the corresponding part of the talkshow when reading the book.

Dong, producer of the talkshow and chief editor of the book, shared her journey of making the talkshow and producing the book at the press conference.

She says felt quite "anxious" when she decided to produce the second season since she was not sure whether the new one would be good enough.

"But learning from Wu Mengchao, China's top specialist in the treatment of liver and gall bladder diseases who insisted on performing operations even in his 80s since patients' lives are more important than his reputation, I decided to ignore all of the external factors that stressed me ," says Dong.
