Seventy-two-year-old James Gauthie from Tonawanda in New York gave his 71-year-old wife Lynn a surprise at the 50th anniversary of their marriage. The Air Force veteran slipped into his old uniform during what was supposed to be an ordinary family gathering, and got down on one knee to propose to his wife again.

When the couple married in 1968 they had two ceremonies: one officiated by a Catholic priest and another at a Methodist church. Hoping that Lynn would still enthusiastically say "I do" after 50 years of marriage, James spent a month planning the secret celebration with his children and grandchildren.
On December 28, he got his wish. "I had tears and you can definitely see me crying. It was a wonderful day," said Lynn.
