Top nuclear envoys from South Korea, Japan and the United States will hold talks next week in Washington to discuss the DPRK’s nuclear weapons program.

South Korea's newly appointed representative at the six-party talks, Hwang Joon-kook, will travel to the US capital this weekend. On Monday, he’s scheduled to hold a dialogue session with his US counterpart Glyn Davies and Japanese diplomat Junichi Ihara.

It will be the first meeting in about five months between the three allies, who are all members of the six-party talks and advocate dismantling Pyongyang’s nuclear program. The South Korean Foreign Ministry issued a press release saying the trilateral talks will focus on issues surrounding the DPRK’s nuclear program and the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula.
