BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- Former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden is set to start a job in Russia. According to his lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, the whistleblower will start work for a large Russian company on Friday. His duties will involve developing a major Russian website.
Kucherena declined to give the name of the company, citing security concerns, but domestic media suggested the employer might be VK, a Russian version of Facebook. The social networking site’s founder Pavel Durov offered Snowden a job back in August.
Russia granted Snowden a year’s asylum in August after he disclosed classified intelligence projects being carried out by the US National Security Agency. Since then he has been living in hiding.
