BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- As Singapore continues to tighten controls over its foreign workforce, companies have to fill the head counts with a limited talent pool. Recruiters say it is clearly a job seeker’s market.

Eight out of ten candidates this online recruiting company polled in its recent survey are considering changing jobs in the next six months.

According to the JobStreet.com, job seekers’ confidence in securing jobs within three months rose to 60 per cent in July. Recruiters now have to teach companies on how to fight for a talent.

“We advise them to look at some simple steps to enhance the chances of successful hiring. For example, things boil down to simple steps like providing informative job advertisement for job seekers. These employers in fact need to sell the company at the same time selling career prospects to the potential candidates. The second step, speed up your hiring process. Once you identify somebody, act fast," said Chew Siew Mee, head of sales from Jobstreet.com

Figures from Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower show a rise in the number of job vacancies for the second quarter of this year, when the economy grew faster-than-expected. But wanting to hire is not the same as being able to find the right person.

"For general positions, such as sales, marketing, business development, definitely a lot of employers are able to hire to certain extend. The second category has become slightly more challenging. For example we are talking about niche talents, we are talking about R&D, engineers, biomedical," Chew Siew Mee said.

With events like the Formula One Night Race coming up, recruiters are confident that Singapore’s job market will remain vibrant in the coming months. These major events will definitely create jobs in the service industry.
