BEIJING, Oct. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The Egyptian army and police have tightened security around the country, a day after clashes with Muslim Brotherhood supporters.
The Ministry of Interior says security has been stepped up on highways in all cities, and at important installations. It also warned the Muslim Brotherhood against staging more protests. Both opponents and supporters of the Brotherhood have called for more mass protests on Sunday, when the country plans to celebrate the anniversary of an Egyptian attack on Israeli forces in the Sinai during the 1973 war.
A presidential spokesman says anyone who protests against the Egyptian army on Sunday will be regarded as agents of foreign countries. Earlier on Friday, supporters of deposed Islamist President Mohamed Morsi mounted their boldest demonstrations since troops crushed protest camps demanding his reinstatement on August 14th. Security sources said four Brotherhood supporters died in Cairo.
