BEIJING, Sept. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Syrian government official says Syria’s decision to relinquish its chemical weapons stockpile was not made out of fear of any potential foreign military strike.
Ali Haidar, Syrian Minister for Nat'l Reconciliation, said, "Syria showed its initial approval, and welcomed the initiative. When the details are put forward, they will be discussed...For this, Syria could give up its chemical stockpile within an integrated project and not on the basis of giving it up out of fear of any enemy."
