GUATEMALA CITY, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in Guatemala confirmed Monday that the death toll in a bus accident in the central part of the country went up to 43, while the number of injuries also climbed to 40.

According to the municipal fire department spokesman Cecilio Chacaj, the bus had left San Martin Jilotepeque, in western Guatemala, for the departmental capital of Chimaltenango. Its final destination was Guatemala City, the Guatemalan capital. Full story
