U.S. Senators set case for military action in Syria
2013-09-03 (Xinhua)   2013-09-03 10:26:29

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. President Barack Obama has invited two outspoken Republican senators to the White House for a meeting as he seeks approval from Congress for U.S. military intervention in Syria.

Republican Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham attended Monday’s talks, arguing that Obama must oust President Bashar al-Assad from power and shift the momentum of the civil war towards the rebels.

McCain and Graham have been the most outspoken Senators on doing more in Syria. They have called on Obama to launch comprehensive military strikes with the aim of destroying Assad’s military control and giving opposition forces more arms and training.
