ISTANBUL, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Western-backed Syrian National Coalition (SNC), the main Syrian opposition umbrella group in exile, on Thursday urged the West to respond to the alleged use of chemical weapons near Damascus by the Syrian government last week.
As the United States and its allies have been mulling imminent military action against Syria due to the alleged chemical attack which Damascus rubbished as baseless, Khalid Saleh, head of the SNC's media office, said "We understand that the international military intervention does not aim to change the regime in Syria and will be in a limited way."
