BEIJING, Aug. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The defense ministers of the Philippines and Vietnam have concluded their meeting in Manila.
Vietnamese Defense Minister General Phung Quang Thanh arrived in the Philippine capital on Sunday at the invitation of his counterpart Voltaire Gazmin. The Philippine Defense Department said the two countries discussed their existing military cooperation activities, and explored other joint initiatives, including humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
According to Philippine media, the two sides also exchanged views on recent security issues. In particular, they talked about the South China Sea situation and the US re-balance toward the Asia-Pacific.
