Residents of Chaoshan power through the floods

Hu Xiumei, 57, from Xikou Village, lives together with her four family members. As the flood withdraws, home appliances and furniture all display severe damage and only a few of the family's pigs are alive and well.



This house was built by Chen Hantao's father in 1960; nowadays, Chen resides there. The sudden floods overwhelmed his house and all its belongings, including the 1,000 kg of rice the family had just collected from the fields.



The recreation center for the elderly in Xinan Village, Chendian Town, Chaonan Region, Shantou City, opens its doors to flood victims who are in need of a roof over their heads. At its peak, at least 400 hundred non-residents were gathered there.



Ding Dongfen's (R) mother, 75, broke her leg when she fled from the floods. The elderly woman also suffers from high blood pressure and her overall physical condition is not good. Police and rescue workers took her to the hospital.



On the morning of August 22, numerous flood victims receive food and supplies from disaster relief vehicles in Xinan Village, Chendian Town, Chaonan Region, Shantou City,
