BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Nations has said it will contact U.S. officials about reports that the National Security Agency, or NSA, spied on it.
A German magazine reported Sunday that documents it obtained from NSA leaker Edward Snowden show that the NSA had secretly monitored the UN’s internal video conferencing system.
The UN has said that it is protected from spying by international treaties. It said on Monday that it will "reach out" to U.S. officials about the reports.
It also stressed that functions of diplomatic missions, including the UN and other international organizations, are inviolable, and are protected by relevant international conventions.
