BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhuanet) -- Local authorities in Minxian County have sent medical teams and ambulances to townships hit by the earthquake to rescue and relocate the injured.
As of noon today, 16 medical teams made up of more than 600 medical staff, and 142 ambulances had been mobilized. At least 362 people injured in the quake have been hospitalised for treatment.
Around 41 people are reported to be in serious condition. Lanzhou Military Area Command has dispatched its National-level Epidemic Prevention Team. Armed Police, firefighters and more than 300 local militiamen have also been dispatched to the quake-hit region to help with rescue efforts.
So far more than 400 people have been relocated. The Provincial Civil Affairs Department has sent 500 tents and 2,000 quilts to help those relocated. A professional Earthquake Rescue Team has been sent from neighbouring Qinghai Province and is expected to arrive at Meichuan township, one of the worst hit areas, at around 8pm tonight.
