BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhuanet) -- U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has arrived in Jordan, in an attempt to restart peace negotiations between Israel and Palestinians.

Some observers believe a breakthrough is unlikely, due to Israel’s reluctance to stop Jewish settlement construction and accept a two-state solution. Kerry will be meeting Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas later on Tuesday. This marks his sixth Middle East tour since becoming Secretary of State in March.
