BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Washington is seeking direct talks with Tehran over Iran’s controversial nuclear program. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araghchi says they hope the U.S. could take practical moves. He was speaking at a routine news conference Tuesday.
"It’s not about whether U.S. is sending out a positive signal now, we hope that U.S. is taking some practical measures," said Abbas Araghchi, spokesman of Iranian Foreign Ministry
Araghchi welcomed the wishes by some western powers to talk and improve ties with Iran. Last month, President-elect Hassan Rohani said Iran is ready to ease the ties with the U.S.. He set out three conditions.
First, the US must stop intervening in Iran’s domestic affairs. Second, the US must acknowledge all Iran’s legal rights, including its nuclear rights. And third, the U.S. must stop its hostile policies targeting Iran. Rohani said it would be a long process, as the relationship between Iran and the U.S. is complicated.
