Singh, Yingluck meet in Bangkok
2013-05-31 (Xinhua)   2013-05-31 11:02:30

BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhuanet) -- Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has met with his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra in Bangkok.

Speaking to the press afterwards, Yingluck said their meeting was productive, and emphasized her hope of strengthening economic cooperation with India. Singh said the two countries had yet to explore the full potential of their economic ties. He added that he hoped to speed up talks on a free trade agreement.

Singh’s visit to Thailand is the first by an Indian Prime Minister since 2004. The comprehensive free trade agreement between Thailand and India was postponed from last year, after both sides couldn’t agree on several issues. An early outline of a free trade agreement has been in force since January 2010.
