BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhuanet) -- International Monetary Fund chief Christine Lagarde has been made an assisting witness by a French court in a case involving a 400 million Euro pay-off to tycoon Bernard Tapie.
The case revolves around the payments made to Tapie, a well-connected magnate, in a private arbitration process to settle a dispute with state-owned bank Credit Lyonnais over the botched sale of Adidas in the 1990s. Lagarde was France’s Finance Minister at the time of the arbitration.
