BEIJING, May 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has continued his official visit in India with a stop at the country’s largest information technology company, the Tata Consultancy Services. Premier Li welcomed Tata to expand their operations in China while continuing to play its role as a bridge between Sino-Indian cooperation and friendship.
A symbol of China- Indian cooperation. The Tata Consultancy Services welcomes an important guest. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang was given an overview of the company’s operations, in a recognition of its success in the Chinese market. In a video conferencing with the employees from its Shanghai Office, Premier Li urged a greater role in bridging Chinese and Indian markets.
"What you have been doing to some extent connect and complements the Chinese and Indian markets. We have achieved ample results on this visit. We have reached political consensus and decided to carry out more pragmatic cooperation. I believe this will provide more opportunities for companies like Tata in the future,” Li Keqiang said.
Premier Li also says China will further open up service sector, and welcomes Tata to expand business to Chinese banks at all levels. The largest software business company has been servicing Bank of China and Hua Xia Bank for years already.
N. Chandrasekaran, CEO of Tata Consultancy Services, said, "China is very strong in the manufacturing sector, and India has a strong capability in the service and IT sector. Opening up of the technology sector will not only give us an opportunity but also have an impact for Chinese corporation in term of efficiency and also helps with trade balance. "
New initiatives for a balanced trade are announced during Premier Li’s visit. Three memorandums of understanding were signed on Monday to facilitate the imports of Indian products, in a move to address the India’s 40 billion USD trade deficit with China.
"We welcome Indian information products and technology to compete in the Chinese market. This will also help to improve the trade structure at the moment. I am expecting a greater role from Tata in the future,” Li said.
Company executives say they are looking forwards to cross-learning in the field of technology, and see strong prospects for future growth in the Chinese market.
