BEIJING, May 7 (Xinhuanet) -- China and India have ended a three-week standoff over an incident at the two countries' border. A spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry said maintaining peace in the border areas conformed with the common interests of both sides, and both countries had made positive progress in consultations.
"Since the occurrence of the incident, both sides have moved forward and adopted a constructive and cooperative attitude, and remained restrained," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.
"The two sides have so far maintained close communication and consultations on the issue through border-related mechanisms, diplomatic channels and border defense meetings. So far as I know, relevant departments of the two countries have made positive progress."
