BEIJING, May 3 (Xinhuanet) -- Veteran BBC sports broadcaster, Stuart Hall, has pleaded guilty to 14 incidents of indecent assaults on underage girls.
The 83-year-old anchor admitted his guilt in court in mid-April. The information could not be made public for legal reasons until Thursday, when reporting restrictions on the case were lifted. Hall denied any wrongdoing when he was arrested in January for questioning about alleged crimes committed between 1967 and 1986.
His lawyer stated that Hall was "sorry for what he did" and wishes to apologize to his victims. Hall is one of several well-known entertainment and media figures charged with sex crimes committed decades ago.
Hall’s case was disclosed after revelations that the late BBC presenter Jimmy Savile was a serial child sex abuser whose crimes went unpunished during his lifetime. Stuart Hall will be sentenced in June.
