BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhuanet) -- French embassy in Libya has been hit by what appeared to be a car bomb on Tuesday, wounding two guards and causing extensive damage. Residents living near the embassy said they heard two blasts in the early morning.
This is the first such attack in the capital Tripoli since the end of 2011 war ousted Muammar Gaddafi. French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has condemned the attack and vowed to do everything to find those responsible. Diplomatic missions have been targeted in Libya.
Last September, an attack on the U.S. mission in the eastern city of Benghazi claimed four lives including the U.S. ambassador.
